What You Need To Know About Irrigation

Watering your lawn can be more complicated than you may think. Did you know that your lawn needs about 1 to 1.5 inches of water each week to be green and luscious? In some areas, in order to get that much water to your lawn, a sprinkler or irrigation system may be required. At Carolina Green, our lawn and landscape experts can design a custom in-ground irrigation system that will efficiently and effectively deliver the optimal amount of water to your lawn.

Depending on the environment where you live as well as your yard's makeup, slope and other characteristics, we will determine the best plan and nozzle heads for your lawn. In order to avoid lost water due to evaporation, we can use low-angle heads that apply water as close to the lawn as possible. There are also rotary nozzles that rotate and deliver water in slow, steady streams. These are great for areas that need slow, deliberate water delivery.

Programmable timers are also available so that you can set your irrigation system to water during low water-use hours, which is typically just before dawn. This is a great time to water because of reduced water loss from evaporation. It's important to not set your time to water at night, because this increase susceptibility to disease development.
